Presented in its initial version at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis at the end of the 1990’s, nocinema.org is an online application developed by Jérôme Joy. The project is an online documentary-fiction and a series of interludes for the web, whose outcomes are never identical. Nocinema.org is in a sense a sort of improbable cinema and a film without beginning, middle or end, without actors or scenario, except the stories we can construct by following the line of streamed sounds and images. Nocinema.org is an automatic system constructed on selection processes of streaming webcams on direct around the globe, filming a shot in different places, panoramised and temporized by the editing generated on line, cut with a few black sections (listening without image). The sounds, organized in a live-calculated mix, come from a database continuously fed by a team of collaborators: Magali Babin, DinahBird, Christophe Charles, Yannick Dauby, Chantal Dumas, Emmanuelle Gibello, Jérôme Joy, Luc Kerléo, Alain Michon et Jocelyn Robert.

Octophony
For FONOF Launchpad and 77 potards

Collisions is the first creation using the FONOF v2.
Created for the Octophony of Nicephore City in Chalon-sur-Saône, this piece is a testimony of sympathy dealing with the pain in the post Fukushima.
The sounds, which traverses it, come from fieldrecordings that I have made during a three-month stay in Japan in 2003. Such as a souvenir that fades into a chaotic earthquake, the listener travels through his memories, between dream and reality.
A stereo version has been created for the festival Mal au Pixel in June 2011.

Installation of controlers and their scores.

The computer screen is removed. Remain to interpret the music sound the partitions and a stopwatch.

This project, recreate the collaborations with the composer, the performer, and the developer (electronics / digital instrument maker).

It leaves the laptop screens and, investigates again, the field of performing electronic music, using interfaces to control the computer.

The scores become the only way in which the musical interpretation can take place because the computer screen is not present and cannot guide or influence the musicians interpreting the composition. Some new digital interfaces are beeing developed for the project.

The video is a twenty minute sequence that I filmed during a train trip from Kyoto to Osaka. The images are filmed in close-up; they show the Japan of outside the cities, with its slums, modern buildings and construction sites. A framework was created on the basis of the images. Sylvan Licois and I played music in real time on two laptops, rendering the innumerable voices and actions of the people in the train.
