Interface based on a sensor array to “Hall effect”. This principle is used to detect the position of the pieces, but also the distance to the approach to control analog effects. The the FONOF is designed as a shield (extension) for the Arduino. This expansion includes 48 sensors to “Hall Effect” (magnetic) that detect the presence and distance of magnetic pieces. The sensed values ​​are transmitted via a USB cable to an application that configures the the FONOF and format data for transmission to other software music composition. Each of the squares of the board can be configured in two modes. The first, “all or nothing”, is used to trigger and stop the tracks. The second, “proportional” to control analog effects.

Installation of controlers and their scores.

The computer screen is removed. Remain to interpret the music sound the partitions and a stopwatch.

This project, recreate the collaborations with the composer, the performer, and the developer (electronics / digital instrument maker).

It leaves the laptop screens and, investigates again, the field of performing electronic music, using interfaces to control the computer.

The scores become the only way in which the musical interpretation can take place because the computer screen is not present and cannot guide or influence the musicians interpreting the composition. Some new digital interfaces are beeing developed for the project.

“A first album for this Parisian electroacoustician who blends field recordings with concrete sounds and manipulations. The album features four pieces, two short one and two long one. “Pour faire peur aux enfants dans le noir” (“To scare children in the dark”) is very well done. So is “Random erratum.” Her style is hard to describe, both very picturesque yet abstract; too cold to be dreamy, yet not really formalistic. I have enjoyed getting lost in her Labyrinth, a strong and promising debut.”

A voyage in the heart of a memory of Japan. The images were filmed in Japan in 2003. It was my only way of recording sounds. I filmed the sound of the street, of the city, the sea…, while holding a traveler’s eye on this country I was crossing.

In 2006 I decided to put together some of these images. The framework is a sound performance produced this year at ECM Réseau 2000 at the invitation of Thierry Théolier. The live titled “music for users” was played during a session of using the internet network of this association by completely neophyte listeners, without in any way disturbing their concentration during this work session; “Music for users” as a sound piece thereby becomes the consciousness of the watcher, letting image become rhythm and sound. The regard posed on Japan becomes parasited by the sound piece, just like thoughts that go far when the regard is contemplative.

These three pieces are amongst my first, they show that sound can give birth to millions of other sounds. The three are composed exclusively of recordings of children’s toys, the extracts are treated differently, accelerated, inverted, placed in the same tempo as well as in all different sizes allowing the composition to become random.
