Octophony
For FONOF Launchpad and 77 potards

Collisions is the first creation using the FONOF v2.
Created for the Octophony of Nicephore City in Chalon-sur-Saône, this piece is a testimony of sympathy dealing with the pain in the post Fukushima.
The sounds, which traverses it, come from fieldrecordings that I have made during a three-month stay in Japan in 2003. Such as a souvenir that fades into a chaotic earthquake, the listener travels through his memories, between dream and reality.
A stereo version has been created for the festival Mal au Pixel in June 2011.

Sounds used are produced from field recordings, webrecordings, radio flux and frequencies.

The prologue and the final piece are raw fieldrecordings which, each in its own way, seem to have been manipulated. Other capture IRL and digital flows, projecting distant places on the airwaves as much sound spaces, giving life to a virtual entity.

Installation of controlers and their scores.

The computer screen is removed. Remain to interpret the music sound the partitions and a stopwatch.

This project, recreate the collaborations with the composer, the performer, and the developer (electronics / digital instrument maker).

It leaves the laptop screens and, investigates again, the field of performing electronic music, using interfaces to control the computer.

The scores become the only way in which the musical interpretation can take place because the computer screen is not present and cannot guide or influence the musicians interpreting the composition. Some new digital interfaces are beeing developed for the project.

Les Émotiques vivent en nombre. L’ensemble de ces petites machines constitue une communauté : chaque entité a ses humeurs et ses émotions, qui interfèrent avec celles de ses semblables et se modifient en fonction de l’environnement extérieur (luminosité, volume sonore, mouvement…), et de leurs caractères propres pré-programmés. Ce qui leur permet d’évoluer au fil du temps : en taille, en forme, en comportements. Le projet est né de l’envie de créer un instrument organique ayant sa propre vie. Un joyeux lâché-prise !

Dans un doux rêve de toucher le domaine de l’intelligence artificielle, Emmanuelle Gibello fantasme sur la délégation de pouvoirs aux machines, mais jusqu’où ? Elle plonge dans la science-fiction, incorpore la théorie du chaos, manipule l’aléatoire, expérimente des pratiques numériques, questionne la place des technologies dans nos vies et l’idée de vie dans les technologies.
